Profile:

The successful candidate (with a target of 4 to 8 years of experience) will join the Development team based in Milan and will be responsible for the technical and administrative development, permitting and post-permitting management of projects through to the RTB phase. The role will focus on the centralised development and permitting phase. The role does NOT involve primary origination activities or initial land scouting, as the projects are transferred to the development team following acquisition.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day development of assigned photovoltaic, BESS and hybrid projects across Italy, retaining full responsibility for pre-construction development workflows through to achieving RTB (Ready-to-Build) status / investment decision.

• Coordinate workflows relating to permitting, grid connection, land, environmental matters and external consultants, ensuring the relevant internal and external specialists are involved at the appropriate times.

• Manage advisors and external consultants, ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables and retaining responsibility for permitting, environmental, grid, land, legal and technical inputs.

• Maintain updates to project tracking systems, risk registers, milestone reports, development action plans and monthly reporting, providing clear visibility on progress, risks and recommendations.

• Support development and acquisition due diligence activities for new opportunities, providing rigorous project-level analyses and related recommendations.

• Identify, assess and report risks that could delay, block or reduce project value, helping to restructure work plans where necessary to protect feasibility and delivery timelines.

• Make technical and operational decisions relating to assigned development workflows, consultant coordination, reporting, risk escalation and day-to-day execution, referring strategic decisions such as acquisitions, project suspensions, material budget changes or investment recommendations to senior governance.

• Monitor progress against agreed development, permitting and grid connection milestones, variance between actual and approved budgets, consultant deliverables, and the quality and timeliness of reporting and due diligence contributions.
  

Requirements:

• The role requires in-depth knowledge of renewable energy development processes in Italy and a strong professional track record in the development of utility-scale photovoltaic projects in the country. Proven experience coordinating permitting procedures, grid applications, land management, consultants and local stakeholders is essential, ideally gained within an IPP, development company, infrastructure-fund-backed platform or renewable energy company. Previous experience with BESS / hybrid projects and acquisition or development due diligence is a significant advantage, but is not essential where there is a strong background in development, permitting and grid connections in Italy.

• Candidates should ideally have 4 to 8 years of experience in developing renewable energy plants in Italy. Strong permitting skills, sound knowledge of grid connection procedures, experience managing consultants, the ability to manage multiple assigned projects simultaneously, a structured approach to monitoring and tracking activities, and a practical, strongly execution-oriented mindset are required. Experience leading projects through to RTB, having worked in key regions for the company’s pipeline, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Operations, Finance, Legal and Construction teams are strong advantages.

• Relevant degrees include Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, Economics, Management, Energy, Urban and Regional Planning or related fields. A technical/engineering background is preferred but not essential. A Project Management certification is considered a plus but is not mandatory.
  

• Excellent fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential, together with excellent communication skills in Italian for managing local stakeholders.

• Useful tools and operational knowledge include advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint, proficiency with SharePoint or other document management systems, project tracking software and basic knowledge of GIS or mapping tools. Knowledge of Power BI and Power Apps is a non-essential advantage.
